Dartmouth Film Society Spring Series

John C. Reilly and Jodie Foster in Carnage
The Dartmouth Film Society's Spring series kicks off on March 28th; this year's theme, 'Writ Large: From Page to Screen,' brings movies inspired by books to the Hopkins Center's Loew and Spaudling Auditoriums.

From the HOP website, "Seeing your favorite book on the big screen can be a curse and a blessing. Great books have been a conduit for learning, a cornerstone for human communication and often, the primary source for film. Every time a film adaptation of a popular book is announced, naysayers bemoan the lack of originality in Hollywood. In the hands of gifted screenwriters though, written works can be transformed into something new and remarkable."

This showcase of the art of film adaptation will cross eras, genres and borders - popular big screen titles include The Hunger Games and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, classics include The Philadelphia Story and Laura, foreign picks include Cannes Film Festival favourite Miss Bala and the Roman Polanski directed Carnage. There is something for everyone!
